Every time you finish a chapter, Escaletta reads it and updates the cards: who appears, what they say, what we know about each character and in which chapter. Only from what's on the page: if something isn't there, it doesn't make it up.

The cards only gather what's written. If a scene is just a note in square brackets, nothing gets invented to fill it.

We don't train models on what you write. Your text is only sent to the AI for its features: automatic cards (which you can turn off), questions and proofreading. Download it whenever you like, and if you delete your account it's locked away and nobody uses it.

Yes: chapters in Word (.docx), plain text (.txt or .md) or a whole folder of chapters and cards. If you write in Scrivener, export the manuscript to Word and import it.
You need an API key from your provider, which is not the same as the chat subscription. It takes a couple of minutes to create one on the provider's website; then you paste it into your Escaletta account.
It's stored in your account and on your device. We don't train models on it. It's only sent to the AI provider for the AI features: automatic card updates (you can turn these off in Settings), questions and proofreading. You can download a full copy whenever you like and delete your projects or your account; the details are in the privacy policy.
